Why do we collect?

12 January 2012

Those shall rejoice that are pervaded by the passion of collecting” – said Goethe. They leave a treasure as heritage. It is not its value that a collection becomes a treasure for. There is an independent story attached to each of its pieces, and as the pieces make up the collection, so will their stories create the Collector. His knowledge expands, his personality improves, and he becomes member of a community, where the common passion provides the possibility of sharing experiences.

During coin collection, we enrich ourselves with a slice of history and cultures, because there is always an important age and idea behind every symbol and personality. The Great Hungarian coin set pays homage to decisive Hungarian historical figures such as Ferenc Liszt, István Széchenyi and Sándor Petőfi. The life tree motif on the back side of the medals has a symbolic meaning for the Hungarian nation. The pieces of the collection are designed by László Szlávics coin artist.

We do not need to be wealthy to collect, as the proof quality, 24-carat gold coated commemoratives of Magyar Kincstár are available for those who do not wish to spend a fortune on their passion.

For it’s not its price that makes a collection a treasure, but its Collector.
