|
3rd November 2011 Safe traffic conditions will be secured by new winter maintenance machinery and continuous road control on the M5 Motorway by maintainer AKA Alföld Koncessziós Autópálya Zrt. and operator A-WAY ITE Zrt. At the traditional Winter Maintenance Event - organised this year in Balástya – they described winter operation and presented the multifunctional vehicles as well. Winter maintenance of the 156.5 kilometre long stretch of the motorway is performed by three operation and maintenance centres – in Újhartyán, Kiskunfélegyháza and Balástya – and by special vehicles prepared for winter. De-icing and snow removal will be done by nine vehicles of the company’s own property, six multifunctional Unimogs eligible for salting and ploughing, three for loading and further machines can be hired if needed. To secure continuous traffic, road conditions will be monitored daily in every second hour until 10 p.m, then between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in every fourth hour. Meteorological stations along the motorway forward the latest weather data in every five minutes and cloud image data combined with satellite records is also provided by the Hungarian Meteorological Service in every 15 minutes. Besides there are icing forecast devices, as well as SOS phone boxes at all even kilometres for the travellers’ safety. Another development of the new season is the variable traffic signs, seven of which will provide the latest road information for travellers at seven points of the motorway after the final installation. For safe and smooth traffic in winter AKA Zrt. would like to ask special attention from travellers’ as well. We should get our cars checked technically and equip it with winter tires, furthermore we must pay attention to keeping the traffic regulations and keeping the safety distance as well. Before leaving for longer journeys we should also check the latest road information provided by Utinform. AKA Zrt. and AWAY-ITE aims to fulfill all contractual obligations by every means possible to be able to provide the safest traffic conditions on the M5 Motorway.
